Repentance!

The only way to GOD is through Jesus.  And when we know Jesus and when we come to realize the huge sacrifice Jesus performed for us, we are convicted by the Holy Spirit to truly repent of our sins.

This does not mean a passing "sorry Lord I sinned".  No true repentance means a turning away from our sins.  It means a one hundred and eighty degree about turn on our sinful ways.

We cannot simply go on sinning and expect that Jesus will keep on forgiving us.  Every time we say we are sorry, but sin in exactly the same way, we are saying to Jesus, "I am not really sorry, so I will keep on doing this".  "But you know me Lord and I do not mean to do this again and again".

There is something to bear in mind with repetitive sinning.  Jesus reads our hearts.  Jesus knows our innermost thoughts.  We cannot hide anything from Jesus.

So in effect, to keep on sinning, we are saying to Jesus "I am not really sorry".

True repentance looks like something.  In yourself, you know inwardly you have changed.  Inwardly the sin that you kept on doing, now gives you pain and suffering.  And you will stop it or at least try your very best to stop it.

Obviously we are all sinners.  However, we need to pray about the sins we habitually commit and humbly ask GOD to send HIS Holy Spirit to fill us anew and to convict us anew to stop sinning in the same manner over and over again.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I humbly pray tonight that where I sin habitually, you send YOUR Holy Spirit to convict me anew.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Jesus is the Truth

 Jesus is the Truth.  And when Jesus returns to reign on earth for the thousand years as given to John in Revelation, Jesus will come with a flaming sword.  The Truth separates and divides.  It separates those who live in the darkness from those who live in the light.

The devil is darkness and Jesus is light.  Here above, Simeon, the priest who circumcised Jesus recognised this.  And Simeon predicted that Jesus would be the fall and the rise of many in Israel.  

Jesus reads our hearts.  Our hearts reveal the truth in us.  We can hide our thoughts from our family and friends, but not from Jesus.  Jesus lives in us and Jesus knows our innermost thoughts.

The way to purify our thoughts is to remember that Jesus knows at all times what we are thinking.  This should stop us in our tracks and put us on a road to be "better".  To think of others before we think of ourselves.

We need to know that Jesus is our Saviour, and that Jesus is our propitiation for our sins.  If we continue sinning we put Jesus back on that Cross and we crucify Him over and over.  

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I pray today that YOU make me a better person.  FATHER circumcise my heart and make me more mindful that I need to be a better person in all aspects of my life.  Help me FATHER to serve you with all my heart, with all my soul and with all my strength.  Help me to YOU in this way FATHER and help me to love others as YOU love me.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Jesus our Saviour!

 Luke is such a unique Gospel.  Firstly it is the only Gospel written by a Gentile.  Luke was also a physician.  So it is an extremely orderly Gospel.  Luke recounts the beginning of the story of Jesus when the Angel Gabriel visited first Elizabeth's husband, and then Mary, the mother of Jesus.

It is an amazing documentary in great detail as the story of the birth of first the Prophet John and then the birth of our Lord and our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

It is hard to imagine the fear and trepidation that came over Mary when she, who had not had any relations with Joseph was told that she would conceive a child by the Holy Spirit coming over her, and then being unmarried, the absolute shame of such a thing.

And yet Luke recounts this brilliantly. Evidently Luke took counsel from a lot of people who knew both Elizabeth and Mary.  Or perhaps, he met them both.  We do not know.

The one thing I do know is that we can be eternally grateful to our FATHER in Heaven for HIS master plan to save you and I from our sins.

Without this plan, we could never get to Heaven.

This is the most important part of the story of Jesus.  Without Jesus we could never ever work our way into the eternal kingdom of our FATHER.  

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, today, I am so grateful that Jesus came to this earth to save me.  I thank YOU FATHER that I have my Saviour, Jesus Christ.  I thank YOU in the Holy Name of my Redeemer, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Believe and spread the Gospel

 Jesus gave His disciples a simple instruction.  "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to the whole creation."

That is our purpose in life.  That is what we are called to do.  We are to spread the good news.  

The good news is simple.  

Jesus came to this earth, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified, died on the cross and rose again on the third day.  Therefore Jesus took all our sins and we are justified (just as if we had never sinned) through our faith and our belief in Jesus.  We are washed pure as snow when we confess that we are sinners and repent.

Jesus conquered death, which entered into the world when Adam and Eve sinned.  Until they sinned, there was no death.  Death came about through sin.

Now we are children of GOD, co heirs with Jesus, we can face an eternity when we die in Heaven with GOD.

That is what we need to tell all the people we meet.  And it can start off with a simple sentence.  "Jesus bless you".

That will start the conversation.  Start it today!

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU so much for Jesus coming to the earth and for saving me.  I thank YOU for YOUR grace and favour.  FATHER today I humbly ask that you give me opportunities to spread the good news.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Jesus King of the Jews!

Jesus is not only King of the Jews, Jesus is our King, our Saviour, our Redeemer. Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega.  Jesus is GOD.  Jesus added humanity to His deity and came to this earth, born of a virgin.

Jesus knew no sin and was led like a lamb to the slaughter. Slain on a Cross to be punished for your and my sins.  Jesus bore the full force of the wrath of a HOLY and JUST and MERCIFUL Creator GOD. To justify us in the presence of GOD when we accept Jesus. 

When we think about the Old Testament, Jesus fulfilled all that He said. 

Let us go back to Genesis,

"In the beginning".  GOD spoke the world and the universe into existence.  And who is the Word?  Jesus is the Word.  Therefore, in the beginning Jesus was with GOD and Jesus is GOD.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was GOD and the Word was with GOD", starts John in His Gospel.

Jesus Himself says the following: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life".

The Way is the way to GOD and eternity in Heaven.

The Truth is that there is only one Way to GOD and that is Jesus.  Also there is no lie in Jesus, only Truth.  Sinless and Holy and Righteous.

The Life is life everlasting with GOD in Heaven.

We serve a Triune GOD.  GOD the FATHER, GOD the Son and GOD the Holy Spirit. And we serve the most Gracious FATHER that saved us if we choose Jesus.

Today let us rejoice for we serve a truly AMAZING GOD!

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I humbly thank YOU for giving me life eternally with YOU.  Help me FATHER to be humble.  Help me FATHER to be wise and help me FATHER to be eternally grateful for all that YOU have done for me.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Jesus will come back for us!

 As Jesus left the earth, so He will return.  Firstly at the Rapture, He will come in the clouds and all who are dead, will rise and join Him in the clouds and then those on earth will, in the twinkling of an eye be in the clouds with Him.  Shortly thereafter, after the tribulation, Jesus will come back again in the clouds to earth but this time, with His mighty army and a flaming sword He will return to reign on earth for one thousand years.

GOD has kept all HIS promises. There is no doubt in my mind that we are living in the end of times.  However, no one knows the hour or the time.

But if we look around, we see the troubles, the birth pains beginning and coming closer and closer.

Are we ready to be raptured?

If not, then today, it is not too late to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.  It is not too late to truly repent.  It is not too late to confess Jesus as Lord.

There may not be tomorrow.  And salvation can only take place this side of the grave. 

We serve a Holy, Mighty, Righteous, Just GOD.  And it would be wonderful to spend eternity with HIM.  Today, make the right choice.  Choose Heaven.  The alternative is not easy to contemplate!

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I humbly thank YOU that I have Jesus Christ as my Lord and my Redeemer.  FATHER I pray in the Holy Name of Jesus that anyone reading this who has not chosen Jesus as their Saviour, does so now.  I pray that YOU would send the Holy Spirit upon them now and convict them to accept Jesus and to repent.  I pray this all in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Greatest Commandment!

 We serve a Mighty Holy Righteous GOD.  Our FATHER wants a loving, living relationship with each one of us.

The first four of the Ten Commandments deal with GOD.  And then the next six deal with our neighbours.

Our FATHER wants to love HIM above all else.  HE wants us to love HIM unconditionally and not for what HE can do for us.  HE wants us to love HIM with all our hearts, with all our souls, with all our minds and with all our strengths.

Following on from that, and because GOD created all people, GOD wants us to love each other.

This is also to be an unconditional love.

Our FATHER is merciful and just.  Justice and Mercy meet at the Cross.  This is where Jesus comes in.

Jesus came, not to do away with the Old Testament, but to show us that the only way to get to the FATHER is not through our own achievements, lest any should boast, as the Pharisees and the Sadducees used to do, but through our belief in Him.

It is only through our faith in Jesus and our repentance, that we can be saved.  There is no other way.  And the only thing we can do for GOD on earth is to love HIM above all else.  And that includes loving Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, and then to love each other. 

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I love YOU with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my strength and with all my mind.  Help me to love my neighbour as myself.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Do we forgive?

 Jesus warned His disciples that when they prayed, if they had not forgiven anyone who had sinned against them, they were to forgive so that GOD would forgive them also.

Do we hold a grudge, but always expect forgiveness?  Not just from GOD but from people who have wronged us?

This is actually quite a lot of food for thought.  How often do we drag up a memory of someone who wronged us, but readily forget where we have wronged others.

Jesus did not make any bones about this subject.  He told His disciples to forgive SO THAT they may be forgiven by GOD.

The implication of this is that if we do not forgive, then neither will GOD forgive us.

And that is a scary thought.  

Today let us examine our lives and where we have held onto wrongs let us pray to GOD to soften our hearts and let us start to forgive, so that we might also be forgiven for the sins we have committed against others.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I know that I hold onto grudges.  FATHER I humbly pray that you soften my heart and show me where to forgive those who have sinned against me. I pray FATHER, that as I forgive, so YOU too will forgive me where I have sinned against others.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

The Son of Man is risen!

 Jesus performed many miracles during His life on earth.  But there are some that we miss.

The above instructive verse, Mark 9 verse 9 is where Jesus tells His disciples that they should tell no one that on the Mountain, He was transfigured.  Not only transfigured, but Moses and Elijah were with Him.

This is not usually repeated as a miracle, but not only did Jesus take them up the mountain, where His clothes and his countenance were completely transfigured, white and glowing, but He called Elijah and Moses and spoke with them.

What an amazing GOD we serve!

Then after this has happened, Jesus predicts His rising from the dead. 

This is doubly amazing!

Our FATHER in Heaven can do anything - even save you and I, mere mortal sinners.  We can be forgiven and made as white as snow, if we will but believe in this awesome Son of GOD, Jesus Christ.  

And all we have to do to be made as white as snow from all our countless sins, is to believe, repent and call on the Name of Jesus Christ.  And we are saved.  Nothing complicated, no penance to perform, nothing.

Truly wonderful GOD, Mighty Counsellor, our Redeemer, our Saviour.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU that truly are our FATHER and our CREATOR and our SAVIOUR.  I thank YOU in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

We need to gain Heaven only!

Jesus talks here to His disciples about the loss of their lives for His sake.  This was a very real decision in those days, and it was one that cost most of them their lives.

The question tonight is, would we be prepared to lose our life for Jesus?

This is also a very real question in today's woke world.  Are we standing up for Jesus?  Or are we accepting what is happening in our world and staying silent because we are to afraid to stand for Jesus?

We cannot silent about all the woke and still be for Jesus.   And unfortunately for every Christ follower, we are either for Jesus or against Jesus.

So will we accept the things of this world?  Will we condone gender neutrality?  Will we condone abortion?  Will we say nothing or will we say something?

Yesterday I read a well written article that Howard Sackstein wrote about the Jewish nation.  And it was well written until the end.  Suddenly he equates himself to Jesus.  Worse still, he calls Jesus an over opinionated Jew who was crucified.

Will we be quiet and accept this?

When we get to Heaven, we will answer for our lives.  I do not want to stand in front of Jesus only for Him to turn around and say "I never knew you".  That would be dreadful.

Let us decide tonight - for Jesus or against Jesus?  Let us take a decision to stand for Jesus. It is an eternal decision.

And yes, it is a salvation issue!

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, today I thank YOU that I can choose to be for Jesus or against Jesus.  You have blessed me with free will to choose.  FATHER I choose to be for Jesus and I humbly pray that YOU always give me the courage to stand for the Truth, for Jesus.  I pray this in the Holy name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Do we have hearts for Jesus?

 Are we in Jesus and more importantly is Jesus in us?

To be in Jesus we simply cannot go on living the life we lived before.  We need to repent.  And repentance is a complete one hundred and eighty degree turn from whom we used to be to where Jesus is.

This means that we need to start to know Jesus.  We need a living relationship with Jesus.  We need to discuss everything we do with Jesus.  We need to ask Jesus to give us wisdom.  We need to ask Jesus to circumcise our hearts.  We need to treat people with dignity, kindness and respect.

And in all circumstances, we need to stop and think:

"What would Jesus do".

Our language, our dress, the way we conduct ourselves at all times needs to reflect the light of Jesus on earth.  A visible change is required when we are truly in Jesus.

The Bible becomes a friend and we want to know it more.  Our Church becomes really important to us.  Fellowship with like-minded Christ followers is also very important to help us to grow and to walk with Jesus.

So, if you are Christ follower and you have repented, you should know that day by day, Jesus is working in you.  Day by day the Holy Spirit is infilling you until you overflow.  And if that is not happening, perhaps it is time to ask GOD for forgiveness and for a new infilling of the Holy Spirit. Then pray and read the Word of GOD anew.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU that I know that Jesus is working in my life to make me a better person each day.  FATHER where I have sinned, forgive me.  Where others have sinned against me, I humbly forgive them.  FATHER fill me anew with YOUR Holy Spirit and help me to become a better Christ follower day and day.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

The miracles of Jesus!

 When we think about the miracles of Jesus, one miracle that is often overlooked is that Jesus not only walked on water, but knew where the disciples boat was.  And he could not possibly have seen it in the dark of night out in the waters.

The disciples saw Jesus walking on the water, and this was so that Jesus could demonstrate His supernatural powers on earth, showing the disciples that He was indeed GOD.

This gives us confidence in the darkest times of our lives.  Jesus knows where we are all the time.  We do not have to ever feel alone.  Because we never are.  All we have to do is to reach out to Jesus.

Jesus is with us all the time.  Jesus loves us and Jesus wants us to lean on Him.  His burden is light and His yoke is easy.

So today let us feel the love that our Saviour has for us and let us thank our Lord and our Saviour for His mercy.  His tender loving kindness and His mercy.  Let us thank Jesus for coming to this earth, and for saving us from our sins.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU that YOU always know where I am and what I am doing, even in my darkest times.  I thank YOU for YOUR mercy and for YOUR loving kindness. I thank YOU Jesus.  Amen.

Strong faith!

Sometimes our faith is so weak.  We struggle in our own strength.  We are like moths caught in water.  

This is when we need to think on this woman in the Bible.  She had a problem for 12 years.  She spent all her efforts on medical solutions.  Then she saw Jesus.

She knew if she could just touch the hem of His garment, she would be healed.

What she did not know is that Jesus felt the power He gave being used.  And He stopped instantly and asked who touched His garment.

She confessed, and He instantly said that her faith had healed her.

A touch of the hem of our Saviour, and the wonderful words, "You are healed".

That is what faith will get us.  But we have to have faith in order to know that Jesus is capable of anything.  We need to know and to understand the character of our FATHER in Heaven.

Our FATHER loves us.  Our FATHER is merciful.  Our FATHER is ALMIGHTY in everything.  All we need to do is to have the faith, the belief in this.

Today, let us put all our hope, all our trust and all our faith in Jesus only.  Let us not lean on our own understanding, but only on Jesus.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I put all my hope, all my trust and my faith in YOU only.  FATHER have YOUR will be done in my life and not my will.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Jesus calms the waters!

Jesus is GOD.  Jesus is the Son of GOD.  Jesus was in the beginning and Jesus will be at the end.  GOD is the Alpha and the Omega and was and is and always will be.

Jesus is the Word and as the world and the universe were spoken into existence, it is safe to assume that Jesus spoke and they were formed. 

This is why Jesus can rebuke the wind and the sea.  Jesus can do anything  because He is GOD.

Nothing was made that was not made by GOD.  Scientists may argue that we can clone sheep and do amazing things, but all we can do is copy.  Nothing has been made that GOD did not make or give us the means to maken them.

Nothing can be done except through the things that were created by GOD.

Never has this been clearer to me than during this time of intense grief over losing my dog, Charlie.  I am bereft, devastated, but I see the Hand of GOD in this.

I see that GOD has a plan and HIS plan is perfect.  Yes, I am grief stricken, Ron is grief stricken, but GOD was at the center of this.  GOD did not make us grief stricken but GOD is planning in HIS way, and HIS plan will be the right plan, the perfect plan. 

And that makes this unbearable grief bearable. 

Because I know that my Redeemer lives.  I know that the last few days there has only been one set of footprints on my path and they were not mine.  They were the footprints of Jesus because He is carrying me through this.  HE will be with me no matter what.  And that is my comfort - that my Saviour can do anything.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU that YOU are able to do anything.  I thank YOU that YOU are carrying me through this and I can get through this, knowing that YOU are with me and YOU have a plan that is so much better than my plan.  I thank YOU in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Jesus saves the sinners!

 Jesus did not come to save those who believe that they are not in need of saving.  But, dear readers, we are ALL in need of our Saviour.

The Bible is very clear on this matter.  There is no one good.  We are all sinners.  

When you ask someone outright, "do you believe you are a good person?".  Most will quickly answer "Yes of course". 

WRONG.  The Bible tells us quite clearly that there is no one good.  We are born sinful.  And what the average person is unaware of is the omniscience of GOD.  GOD can read our hearts, our minds, GOD know everything about each one of us.

We, mere mortals, are completely unable to comprehend this.  GOD has no time.  GOD can go up and down the passages of time because GOD is not constrained by time.

So GOD knows what we are thinking, what we are doing, what we have done, what we are going to do.  GOD knows everything about all of us.

Once we grasp this, we can start to understand the character of our FATHER in Heaven, although I believe we never ever fully come to grips to know our FATHER that intimately.  HE is so much more than we can ever be.

And most importantly GOD cannot be in the presence of anything unholy.  And no matter how "good" we think we are, our good deeds are like filthy rags to GOD.

This is why we need Jesus.  Because Jesus stands in our place in the presence of GOD.  Jesus intercedes for us.  And Jesus took the full wrath of GOD poured out onto HIMSELF on the Cross of Calvary.

Jesus came to save everyone, only a lot of people do not realize that we all need a Saviour.

It is our job as children of Jesus to let people know that we all need saving by the only wise Saviour, Jesus Christ. 

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I cry out to YOU tonight.  FATHER help me to know YOU more.  FATHER thank YOU that YOU saved me through my faith in Jesus Christ.  FATHER help me to show others to the only way to YOU is through Jesus Christ.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

We may not have tomorrow!

 The Gospel of Mark, is far more about the miracles of Jesus than the life of Jesus.  Precise with huge emphasis on the fact that Jesus is GOD.

And here for me is the only way we can be saved.  We accept Jesus as GOD, as our Saviour, as our Redeemer.  We repent.  We are saved.

With all that in mind, as I have written constantly, let us not tarry in accepting Jesus.

The times are dark.  The Gospel is freely available to the ends of the earth.  There are wars and rumours of wars.  There are earthquakes.

Kingdom is divided against Kingdom.

We know not the hour nor the time, but we can surely read the seasons.

I wholeheartedly believe that we are living in the end of times.  

Dear Reader, if you are not in right standing with GOD, get there quickly.  You may not have tomorrow.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU for YOUR grace and favour.  I thank YOU that Jesus is my Redeemer and my Saviour.  FATHER I truly repent where ever I have sinned.  Forgive me today as I forgive all those who have sinned against me.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Jesus with us!

 Jesus keeps His promises.  And here Jesus promised that He would be with His disciples until the end of age.

Jesus is GOD.  Jesus added humanity to His deity to come to earth to save us from our sins.

But Jesus requires that we all become bearers of the good news that all can be saved.

The most encouraging part of this promise is that Jesus is always with us.  Even when we think we are alone, Jesus is still with us. 

Jesus said that He would never leave us nor forsake us.

In our darkest times we need to remember this.  When we are afraid to tell someone about Jesus, we need to remember this.  And when we are happy we need to remember this.

Jesus is always with us!

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, today I thank YOU that YOU, in YOUR enormous mercy and grace sent Jesus Christ to save me from sins and to give me eternal life with YOU.  I thank YOU that Jesus is always with me.  I thank YOU in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Jesus with us!

 When Jesus gave His disciples the instruction to go out into the world, making disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the FATHER and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, the most important part of this was teaching them to obey everything that HE had commanded them.

That is what you and I are called to do.  We are not called to be hearers of the WORD only.  We are called to be doers of the world.

Now not everyone can travel the world to bring people to GOD.

But what we can do is to ensure that our circle of people whom we connect with on a day to day basis hear about what Jesus did for you and I on that Cross of Calvary.

It is not easy to talk to about Jesus when you have not done it.  But with small beginnings confidence to do this grows.

And we all have to start somewhere.  So how about the car guards, the tellers in the grocery store, the friends we visit?

Small beginnings can often lead to great things. 

Obedience is required to be called a Child of GOD or a Christ follower.  Jesus called for obedience in this from His disciples. Let us be obedient to this call. 

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I humbly pray that all of us reading this may find the courage to start spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

The Inerrant WORD of GOD!

The Bible is not random.  GOD is not random.  Our FATHER is organised and the world and the universe HE created is organised.

The verse above proves that the Bible is not a random collection of writings all put together by some or other scholars.

No let us examine the verse above and then go to Zechariah 11 from verse 10: 

And I took my staff, Beauty and cut it in two, that I might break the covenant which I had made with all the peoples.  So it was broken on that day.  Thus the poor of the flock, who were watching me, knew it was the WORD of the LORD.  Then I said to them, "If it is agreeable to you, give me my wages, if not, refrain.  So they weighed out for my wages thirty pieces of silver. And the LORD said to me "throw it to the potter - that princely price they set on me.  So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the LORD for the potter.

This was written about six hundred years before Jesus.  

The exact sum of money paid to Jesus, the replacing of the Old covenant with the new covenant, the fact that Judas threw the money back into the temple and it was used to buy the potter's field to bury the poor.

So dear readers, let us never question the authority of the Bible.  This is not a coincidence.  This is infallible, inerrant authoritative WORD of GOD.  Written for us to begin to know and to understand the nature of the CREATOR FATHER we serve.

When I was hungry!

 I always get very worried when I read this verse which I did this morning.  I mean who does not get sick of the beggars at every set of traffic lights?

My biggest annoyance is the ladies with the little babies playing russian roulette on the side of the road with the cars, begging and using the little children to garner sympathy.

So one day, when I get to Heaven, will Jesus say to me, "you saw me hungry and you gave me nothing to eat".

This is a dilemma for me.

And then we try to justify our actions.  "Well if we gave to everyone we would have nothing left to eat".

But in truth, we have nothing that we did not get from GOD.  We came into this world with nothing.  Everything we have is by the Grace of GOD.

What is the solution?

The solution is to do what Jesus did.  Jesus loved each and every person He came into contact with on earth.  Even the sinners.  

Maybe the answer is - be led by the Holy Spirit which dwells in each one of us and where we possibly can, we help.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU for all that I have and I am so privileged to have YOUR grace in my life.  FATHER show me where I can help and give me the means to do so.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

End of times?

 Dear Christ followers, are we ready to see the end of times as we know them?

Have we been faithful to GOD and have we been walking closer to GOD?

If not, let us tonight, let us take time out to reflect on how we can become better people.

Are we drawing near to GOD?  Are we learning to know the character of GOD?  Are we spreading the good news that through Jesus Christ and His blood shed on that Cross, all that we have to do is to accept Jesus as the Son of GOD?

If the answer to a lot of these questions is no, then dear friends, let us stop dead in our tracks.  Tonight Jesus could come in the clouds to fetch us.  Are we going or staying?

Maybe it is time to renew our commitment to our faith.  So let us pray fervently tonight that if that happens, we are going.  The thought of staying, knowing what is going to happen, is too terrible to contemplate!

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, tonight I confirm that I know that Jesus Christ is my Redeemer.  I know that He came to earth, lived a sinless life, was crucified, died on that Cross and rose again on the third day.  I know that Jesus ascended into Heaven and sits at YOUR RIGHT HAND.  I know that Jesus will judge both the quick and the dead.

FATHER forgive my sins, I fervently pray tonight, as I forgive all those who sin against me.  I humbly pray all of this in the Holy Name of My LORD and my REDEEMER, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Are we doers of the Word?

 To be a child of GOD looks like something.  I know a lot of people, myself included who used to say "I have always been a Christian".  But this statement is simply not true if your behaviour was not as a child of GOD's should be.

In other words, if you were jealous, a liar, a gossip, if partied until the small hours of the morning telling unbecoming jokes and drinking copious amounts of alcohol, (and believe me, here I am talking for myself), then truthfully, were you a true child of GOD?

The answer is no.

Once you truly accept Jesus as your Lord and your Redeemer, the Holy Spirit comes to live in you, and you start to change.  A little at first, then it picks up speed.  No longer do you desire to party or to swear or to be a gossip or to be jealous.  No longer do you desire the things of this earth.  They do grow strangely dim.  

And as the Holy Spirit fills you, more and more you detest a lying tongue.  Even your own.  More and more you want to tell the truth only.  More and more you do not want to hear detestable language, it starts to offend you more and more. 

These are the true signs of being a born-again believer.  Suddenly you yearn to know GOD more.  Suddenly you would rather read your Bible than a novel.  No longer can you watch adult movies on TV - they are truly offensive.

Another thing happens, slowly by surely, your friends you once thought would stand by you through thick and thin, disappear.  Your new friends are more like Jesus and you enjoy being with them so much more.  

These are the signs that you are being refined by GOD.

And that is what Jesus was saying to His disciples.  Do not do what they are doing, (the pharisees and the sadducees).  They are like white-washed tombs.  Beautiful on the outside and dead on the inside. 

Which I definitely was for many years. 

So today, if you are still living "of this world" commit to Jesus.  Accept Jesus, repent and turn away from your old life.  Ask GOD to fill you with HIS Holy Spirit and prepare to be astounded when GOD starts working in your life.  I am amazed, each and every day as I grow to know GOD and to love HIM more and more.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU that I have Jesus as my Redeemer.  FATHER fill me anew with YOUR Holy Spirit that I may thirst to know YOU more each day.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Many are called but few are chosen!

 Jesus spoke these words to His disciples are He had given them the parable of the rich man and the wedding guests who were called off the streets because the friends of the rich man refused to attend the wedding ceremony.

So why did Jesus say this?

My answer and my understanding is the following.

The people who heed the call to follow Jesus hear, then believe that Jesus is the Son is GOD and do nothing about this.  Initially, in the excitement following their acceptance of Jesus, they are Christ followers.  But as time passes by, they do nothing to grow their faith.

In other words, they are pew warmers for want of a better term.  They become like the wedding guest who could not be bothered to get dressed up for the occasion.

To inherit the Kingdom of Heaven, we need to put our faith into action.  We need to put our money where are our mouths are and start to grow in our relationship with GOD.

Daily, we need to read HIS Word.  Daily we need to pray about anything and everything.  Daily we need to ask GOD to show us where HE wants to use us to spread the Gospel.  Daily we need to ask GOD to forgive us for our sins.  Daily we need to forgive those who sin against us.

This is not a "once saved - always saved" thing.  Faith in action looks like something.  Faith in action starts to look more and more like Jesus.  And if we are not becoming more like Jesus, we are not growing.

So, are we doing what we profess to be?

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, thank YOU for saving me through YOUR grace.  Thank YOU that I believe in Jesus as my Lord and my Redeemer.  FATHER forgive my sins as I forgive those who sin against me.  FATHER help me to grow my faith and to do YOUR Will daily.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

With GOD all things are possible!

 Often in life, this verse is used to promote the so called "prosperity gospel".  But Jesus was not talking about success in worldly terms.  Jesus was talking about how small our faith is.

We think we have faith, but how quickly we doubt when things go wrong.  We are so quick to lose our faith and try to do things our own way.

But if we trust in Jesus, fully trust Him with all of our plans, GOD is able to do anything.  The secret is the trust and the faith.

So what we need to do is to grow our faith and our trust day by day.  And without a living relationship with GOD and Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that is simply not possible.

The more faith we have, the greater our faith becomes. The more we trust GOD the more our trust grows.

And the more we read the Word of GOD and the more we pray the more we are filled with faith and trust.

Prayer: ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU that I can grow my faith and my trust in YOU day by day.  FATHER I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

The Greatest Commandment!

 We serve a truly amazing GOD.  Our FATHER in Heaven can do anything.  In fact, our FATHER in Heaven created everything.  Our FATHER is Omniscient, Omnipresent and Omnipotent.  Our FATHER is Gracious, Righteous, Holy, Merciful and Just.

But our FATHER is also a jealous GOD and the first four Commandments dealswith the way are to serve our FATHER.  The four Commandments say:

"You shall have no other gods before me."

"You shall not make for yourself a carved image, any likeness of anything that is in heaven, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them nor serve the.  For I the LORD your GOD, am a jealous GOD, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who have ME, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love me and keep MY Commandments."

"You shall not take the name of the LORD THY GOD in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes HIS Name in vain."

"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it Holy".

And this tells us such a lot about the character of our FATHER in Heaven and it lines up so well with what we know and understand of our FATHER.

Therefore, when Jesus was asked, "What is the greatest Commandment of all?" by the Pharisee, He answered:  "Love the LORD YOUR GOD with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength".

If we follow this Commandment, we are being obedient to the WILL of GOD.

This also keeps us from sinning.  When we love the LORD our GOD above all else, we want to please HIM.  We do not want to sin because we know that HE cannot be in the presence of sin.  We also know that we need to follow the second great Commandment that Jesus gave, to love our neighbour as ourselves.  Because GOD loves us all.  

GOD wants a loving relationship with all HIS children and therefore each one of us needs to love GOD and each other.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I love YOU so much.  Show me daily how to please YOU and how to live for YOU with all my heart. Show me YOUR WILL and show me how to die to self and serve YOU alone.  

FATHER I humbly ask this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Jesus' life, a ranson for many!

 As children of GOD and Christ followers, would we be willing to die for anyone?

I am not a very brave person.  In the face of the choice to die or to let someone else die, I am really not sure how I would fare.

And yet Jesus came to earth for one reason, to die for you and I to have eternal life.

His whole life was dedicated to this purpose.  

Can you imagine going through your whole life, never sinning, although being tempted, knowing full well that you are going to die for all the sinful people you will meet?

This is the greatest sacrifice anyone can ever make.  And Jesus not only knew that this was His purpose on earth, but took on humanity, added it to His deity and did this for you and for me.

Now I am not sure about you, but I know how sinful I have been in my life.  It is not a pretty picture.  And I know that I will still sin, albeit that I do not want to sin, nor intend to sin.  But I am human and I know that sin comes so easily.  It just slips in.  The little lie, the little swear word, the unkind thoughts.  All of these things we do, even if we do not want to do them.

But we can be saved from these sins if we will only accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.  If we will accept that we are sinners and if we can ask GOD constantly to forgive us, we can be saved. 

It really is that easy.  Confess Jesus as Lord of our lives.  Admit that we are sinners and believe that Jesus is the Son of GOD.  That is all there is to salvation and eternity in Heaven.

If you have not done so, believe in Jesus, admit that you are a sinner and confess Jesus as Lord today!

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, today I renew my belief in Jesus Christ.  I know that Jesus is YOUR Son and my Redeemer.  I know that Jesus came to this earth, lived a sinless life and then took all my sins onto the Cross of Calvary.  There He was punished for me.  He died and rose on the third day.  He conquered death for me to have eternal life with YOU.  I know that He sits at YOUR right Hand.  I know that without Jesus I cannot get into YOUR presence and live in Heaven with YOU.  I know that I am justified through Jesus.  I humbly thank YOU for YOUR grace in sending me such a great gift as eternal life through the blood of Jesus spilt on that Cross for me.  I thank YOU in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

As little children!

 Jesus told His disciples to let the little children come to Him.  And then He added "for to such belongs the kingdom of Heaven".

So what exactly was Jesus saying?

What is expected from us is that we, children of GOD, become as trusting as little children.

I can remember when my children were little.  They were so trusting.  I could tell them in a swimming pool to jump to me and they would happily throw themselves to me, knowing that I would catch them.

This is how we must be.  We need to know, that no matter what, GOD is always with us.  Never will HE leave us and never will HE forsake us.  No matter what.

Today, let us put all our hope, our trust and faith in Jesus.  He is the only Way, the only Truth and the only Life.  Jesus is the Light of the world.  And if our hope is in Him we are saved.

Prayer: ABBA FATHER, today I humbly pray that I know that I  trust YOU entirely with everything I have.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Power of praying together!

 When we realize the power of praying together, we suddenly know that GOD wants us in harmony with each other on earth.  GOD wants us to pray together to HIM.

So if we are gathered in groups and we pray and ask anything according to the Will of GOD, here Jesus assures us, not only will our prayers be heard, but they will be answered.

Not only that, but where two or three people are gathered together in the Name of Jesus Christ, Jesus is with us.

This is so powerful and such a wonderful gift we have.

We can pray to GOD, gathered together with Jesus, and ask anything according to the Will of GOD, and our prayers will be answered.

This is why it is so important to meet together and to pray together.

Let us make this a daily habit.

Prayer:   ABBA FATHER, YOU bless us with so much.  YOU shower on us YOUR mercy, YOUR grace but most of all YOUR love.  FATHER we thank YOU today for all that YOU give us and all that YOU are.  We thank YOU in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Jesus the beloved Son of GOD!

 Jesus did everything GOD asked of Him.  He was obedient to the Word of GOD in every aspect of His life on earth.

So should we be.  We need to pay attention to the Word of GOD.  We need to pray and learn to wait for GOD to answer us.

And if the answer is no, we need to respect that GOD has a better plan for us than the one we have.

How do we grow obedient to GOD?

We start to study the Word of GOD.  We start to pray about everything in every situation.  We start to pray and then wait on the LORD.

In order to hear the Word of GOD, we need to know the character of GOD and that is clearly revealed to us when we read our Bibles.

Let us for one minute take time to imagine if we met GOD what HE would be like.

In my mind, GOD is so Holy, so Gracious, so Merciful that I imagine I will not be able to stand in HIS presence, but I will be flat on my face like Ezekiel.  

Our FATHER made everything.  The Heavens, the earth and everything in it.  Our GOD is mighty, powerful.   Our GOD is Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent.  Our GOD is truly magnificent.

And if Jesus was obedient to GOD, how much more should we be?

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU that I can serve YOU.  FATHER today make more obedient to YOUR Will.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.
