Repent!

 The topic of repentance is on my heart.  If we are not sorry that we have sinned and we do not ask GOD to forgive us, we are simply not forgiven.

Do we really want to arrive in Heaven only to find out that we have believed that we have not sinned.  For the Bible tells us that all have sinned and all fall short of the glory of GOD (Romans 3:23).

There is not one who is good amongst.  

The grace of GOD is one thing.  And repentance quite another.  GOD offers us a chance to have Jesus stand in our place to get us into Heaven.  But our FATHER is righteous and just and a righteous and just FATHER cannot simply overlook sin.

Today, if you believe that you are Christ follower, repent.  Turn away from sin.  Beg GOD to forgive you.  For without that you might end up in Heaven and Jesus tells you to leave because He never knew you.

Good works are not getting us to Heaven.  Grace through faith is getting us into Heaven.  Spending eternity in Heaven is by admitting that we are sinners and by asking GOD to forgive us and then turning away from sinning.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I am a sinner.  Show me where I am sinning and forgive me for sinning.  FATHER I accept Jesus as my Redeemer.  Fill me with YOUR Holy Spirit and convict my sinful ways so that I no longer sin.  Let me shine the light of Jesus on earth by walking in the way of Jesus rather than in the ways of a sinner.  I humbly ask this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Repentance!

When we repent there is rejoicing in Heaven.  Can you imagine that?

We are only saved through faith by the grace of our FATHER.  We need to have faith in Jesus.  We need to believe in Jesus as our Redeemer.  We need to accept the grace of our FATHER, who had mercy on us and sent HIS only Son to pay for our sins on that cross.

And then we need to repent.  And by repenting, we turn away from our sins.

It does not mean that we will not sin again.  We are human and we are born sinful.  And there is not one amongst us who has not sinned.

There is none "good".  And when the Holy Spirit comes to live and dwell in us, He makes us aware of our sins.

Our sin separates us from GOD.  So repentance is not a once off thing.  As we live we are going to sin.  And the Holy Spirit living in us will show us our sins and again and again, we need to ask our FATHER to forgive us. 

That is why Jesus taught us how to pray.  We need to ask GOD daily to forgive us and in the same way, we need to forgive others.  It is a daily process.

Today, let us ask the Holy Spirit to show us where we have sinned and let us ask our FATHER in heaven to forgive us.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU for the grace and favour YOU have showered on me through sending Jesus to die for me and my sins.  FATHER, I thank YOU for the Holy Spirit living in me.  Holy Spirit, show me my sins and help me not to do the same sins over and over.  I ask YOU, FATHER to forgive my sins as I forgive those who sin against me.  I thank YOU in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  My Lord and my Redeemer.  I pray all of this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Shining the Light of Jesus in the world!

 As believers in Jesus, we are to be a new creation.  The Holy Spirit which takes up residence in us cannot live in sin and shame and darkness.  Therefore to be true followers of Jesus, we need to sweep away the past. 

We do this by acknowledging our sins.  By remembering where we sinned and how we sinned and by asking GOD to forgive those sins.  We sweep away our old selves and don the new selves.  We ask Jesus on a day to day basis to fill us anew with His Holy Spirit.  We ask Jesus to show us how He would respond to situations that we find ourselves in.  We pray all the time and ask GOD to show us HIS will for our lives rather than our will for our lives.

We read the word of GOD daily.  We pray without ceasing.  That is the only way to shine the light of Jesus in this very dark world of ours!

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, today, I pray that YOU fill me with YOUR Holy Spirit.  Show me how to be a light in this dark world.  Forgive my sins and remove them from me as far as the east is from the west.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Forgiveness!

 We ask GOD to forgive us our sins, and we are told in the Bible that our sins are removed from us as far as east is from west.  

But do we forgive in the same manner?

We like to hold onto our grudges with others.  We like to remember issues and events that were done to us.  But if we call ourselves children of GOD and claim to know GOD, then we know that it is the will of our FATHER that we forgive others as we are forgiven.

Today, if we are holding things against others and remembering wrongs done to us, let us ask our FATHER in Heaven to forgive us.

Let us forget at the same time.  In the same manner as GOD forgives let us also so forgive.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU that YOU forgive my sins.  Tonight, help me to forgive all those who have sinned against me and help me to remember their wrongs to me no more.  I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Believe!

• We believe that Jesus is the Son of GOD and Jesus is GOD.  
• We believe that Jesus came to this earth, lived a sinless life and died on that cross.  
• We believe that Jesus died for our sins.  
• We believe that Jesus rose from the dead.  
• We believe that Jesus ascended into Heaven.
• We believe that Jesus sits at the right hand of GOD our FATHER.
• We believe that the Holy Spirit lives in us.
• We believe  that we serve a GOD who keeps all HIS promises.  
• We believe that we may be able to spend eternity eternity with GOD in Heaven.

Knowing and believing all of the above, let us put our belief into action and start to serve Jesus in such a way that we get to spend eternity with HIM.

We need to call on Jesus.  We need to admit that we are sinners and we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit.  We need to start living a life that brings glory to GOD on earth.  Start today!

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU that I know that YOU have given me YOUR grace and favour.  FATHER help me to live my life in such a way that it brings all glory to YOU.  I pray this in the Holy name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

What is the true purpose of life?

 What is our purpose on earth?  It is a question that we hear over and over.  Books are written on the subject and the talk show hosts, etc expound on their various theories.

As children of GOD, we know our purpose on the earth.  We are to give glory to GOD.  And to spread the good news that we can all go to Heaven when we die.

That is our only purpose on earth.  

If we believe that our purpose on earth is to accumulate wealth or power or to make a legacy, that is a fleeting purpose and it will surely die.  

But when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and our Saviour, that is the Truth.  And the Truth will indeed set us free.  Free from the bondage of slavery to sin.  Because Jesus died for our sins on that cross.  Free to spread the good news and free to live to bring Glory to GOD on earth.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU that I know the Truth, Jesus Christ.  I thank YOU that I can humbly ask YOUR forgiveness of my sins and I know that they are moved away from me as far as east is from west.  I thank YOU that I can live on earth to bring glory to YOU.  I thank YOU in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Only Jesus!

 When we become children of GOD, we are co heirs with Jesus.  In other words, we share in the Kingdom of Heaven and Jesus has gone ahead to prepare a place there for each one of us who have chosen to follow Jesus.

However, if we admit that we are sinners, believe in Jesus as Lord and confess this truth with our mouths, this is not enough.

Our lives must change.  True repentance means that we change our minds. All of the above are not befitting a child of GOD.

It can only be Jesus.  There can be no half hearted approach.  It is an all or nothing.  And it is Heaven or hell.

So let us not worry what we will eat, or what we will wear.  Let us not worry about where we live.  Let us rather worry about the things that cause us to stumble and to fall away from Jesus.

Take hold of our thoughts.  Capture the evil seeds before they take hold.  Reject all of the above.  These are the things which will end us with us being in hell rather than being in Heaven with Jesus.  It must be all about Jesus - nothing else!

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER I thank YOU that I am a child of YOURS.  I humbly pray that YOU continually send the Holy Spirit to fill me up.  I pray that YOU let me grow in the fruits of the Holy Spirit living in me that I may shine YOUR light here on this very dark earth.  I pray this in Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Jesus walked on the water!

 There are a lot of people today who do not believe that Jesus walked on the water.  My question to you is this - why?

Why do they not believe that Jesus walked on water?  The answer simply is that they do not know GOD or Jesus and they have no relationship with either GOD or Jesus.

When you start to understand the magnitude of the GOD we serve, then you start to believe that Jesus can do anything.  Literally anything.  Jesus can call on angels to minister to us.  Jesus can heal us.  Jesus can solve all our problems.  But why doesn't He do these things? You may ask.

The answer is simple.  The people asking for these things have no faith.

Faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains.  Faith can achieve anything we believe in if it is in line with GOD's plan for our lives. 

And if we have faith, we know that GOD has a divine plan for our lives and perhaps that plan means that we lose people we love to disease, or we lose our money or we do not succeed in the way we want to succeed.

The faith we have in GOD leads to a deep trust in GOD. And a reverence for the desire of GOD that we shine HIS light on this dark earth.

Today, if your faith is weak, pray to GOD and ask HIM to fill you with HIS Holy Spirit.  Ask HIM to send Jesus to live in your heart.  That is all possible with faith.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU for my faith. I thank YOU for YOUR grace.  FATHER, sometimes it is so hard to know YOUR will for my life.  FATHER, I love YOU.  Please fill me with YOUR Holy Spirit and send Jesus to live in my heart.  I pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Obedience to GOD!

 We are called on to obey GOD.  That is why we are separated from GOD.  Because we are sinners and sinners cannot be in the presence of a pure and righteous FATHER.

All through the Bible, we can trace sin.  Adam and Eve sinned and were banished from the Garden of Eden.  Moses sinned and killed the Egyptian.  Lot's wife sinned and looked back.  Aaron's sons sinned and were killed.

So it perpetuates.  Until Jesus.  Jesus was not born of a sinful union.  Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit to a virgin mother.  Jesus never sinned.  Jesus was therefore the perfect sacrifice to take on our sins and to be punished for them.

Once we accept Jesus as our Redeemer.  When we confess that we are sinners.  When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we are convicted to sin no more.

Does this mean that we will not sin?  Definitely not!  We are human and we sin.  We sin in our words, our actions, our thoughts, things we do and things we do not do.

We remain sinners until we die.  But as children of GOD, we cannot carry on doing the same sins over and over.  The Holy Spirit convicts us as come to know the character of GOD.

But it is useless to believe in Jesus, to admit being a sinner and to be filled with the Holy Spirit and then drift away from GOD by not reading HIS word, by not praying and by not continually fellowshipping with like minded Christians.  We need each other and we feed each other spiritually.

If you are reading this tonight and you are a Christian, make Bible reading a daily habit.  Make prayer a habit.  Most of all, make fellowship with other Christians a daily habit.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, today I pray that YOU fill me anew with YOUR Holy Spirit.  I pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Where do justice and mercy meet - at the Cross!

 We are born sinful.  We cannot get ourselves into Heaven no matter what we do.

• So do we serve a just GOD?  
• And is our GOD holy and righteous?  
• Is our GOD merciful?

If your answer to the above is yes to all three then how can we get into Heaven when we are all sinners?

GOD needed to punish our sins.  HE cannot be in the presence of unrighteousness and sin.  HE is pure and Holy and Righteous.

Where do justice and mercy meet - at the Cross.  With Jesus our Redeemer, nailed to cross and bearing all our sins for us so that we may have redemption.

If that is where the story ends, then we are still dead in our sins.  So Jesus rose from the dead, to conquer death - the death which separates us from GOD our FATHER.  Through the Resurrection of Jesus, we are now able to live an eternal life with GOD our FATHER in Heaven.  And the best news is that Jesus has gone before us to prepare a place for us to be with Him forever.

Today accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour and Redeemer.  Admit that we are sinners and ask GOD to forgive our sins.  Forgive others and confess Jesus as Lord.  We will be filled with the Holy Spirit.  And we have the opportunity to spend eternity with our FATHER in Heaven.

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU that Jesus came to this earth, died on the Cross and paid for my sins in full.  I thank YOU that Jesus rose and conquered death for me to have eternity with YOU.  FATHER forgive me my sins as I forgive those who sin against me.  FATHER, fill me with YOUR Holy Spirit. I pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Hell is real!

 Jesus came to earth, not to destroy the Law but to fulfil the law.  The new covenant came through the life of Jesus as a man on earth, His death on the cross, where He died in the place of you and I and then through the resurrection, Jesus conquered death.

But do not be deceived.  Jesus warned of hell.  And as Heaven is real, so is hell.  And we are not able to atone for sins.  That is why the Law of the Old Testament needed to be fulfilled.  Blood has to be shed for the atonement of sins.

The ultimate blood shed for you and I is the blood of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Jesus took all of our sins, past, present and future onto that cross and He bore all our sins and paid the price for once and for all.  We, therefore, have no need to offer sacrifices up to GOD to have forgiveness of our sins.

All we have to do, is to accept Jesus Christ is our Redeemer.  We need to confess that we have sinned.  Yes, you and I are sinners.  We are born in sin.  And we cannot do anything by ourselves to justify ourselves to a Holy and Pure and Righteous GOD.

But Jesus did it all for us.  We therefore have to believe in this.  And once we confess the Name of Jesus Christ, The Way, The Truth, The Life, we are saved.

The Holy Spirit takes up residence in us and convicts us of our sins.

So should we carry on sinning.  Certainly not!  To do that is to crucify Jesus again and again.  

Yes we will sin.  We are sinners.  But the Holy Spirit living in us, will direct us to sin less and less.  

In order to be filled with the Holy Spirit, we need to pray constantly and we need to read the Word.  We need to fellowship with like minded people.  And most of all we need to continually ask our FATHER in Heaven, to direct our paths.  Away from hell!

Prayer:  ABBA FATHER, thank YOU for YOUR grace and favour.  I thank YOU for Jesus, my Lord, my Saviour, my Redeemer.  Fill me anew with YOUR Holy Spirit.  I pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.
