Rest!

On this Sabbath, draw near to GOD and find rest.  All who are weary and all who are burdened, draw near to our AWESOME GOD.

We need to make a concerted effort to give everything to GOD.  All our praise and worship, all our thoughts and deeds, every breath we take, we need to give to GOD.  Our lives do not belong to us, but to GOD.

Our mission on earth is all for the GLORY of GOD, our FATHER in Heaven.

Prayer: Heavenly FATHER GOD, I thank YOU that I can give all my cares and worries to YOU.  FATHER, give me rest today and give me strength and patience to help me deal with all my work and chores throughout the coming week.  

I thank YOU that YOU gave me the Sabbath so that I can rest.  I thank YOU in the Holy name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Wisdom in whom we trust!

Our GOD wants us to trust in HIM.  HE is our creator and HE knows everything about us including the number of hairs on our heads.  Therefore who knows us better, GOD or ourselves? Let us therefore put all our trust in our CREATOR, GOD.

Let us draw close today to this magnificent FATHER who loves us and wants the very best for each and every one of us.  Let us read HIS word, let us pray to HIM.  Let us confide in HIM and lean on HIM and not on our own understanding.

Prayer: O Gracious GOD, our Heavenly FATHER, I thank YOU that I can fully and unconditionally depend on YOU for everything I need.  I thank YOU that YOU made me and that YOU breathed life into me.

Today I ask that YOU forgive me all my sins.  I am so sorry FATHER that I have sinned against you and against my neighbours.  FATHER, I forgive all those who have sinned against me.  Grant me YOUR grace Heavenly FATHER. I pray all of this in the Holy Name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Liberty through the Spirit of the Lord!

GOD is the Spirit and He is glorious.  HIS Glory is everywhere.  When we want to contemplate this all we need to do is walk outside on a glorious clear black night and look up and see the myriads of stars in our universe.

Get up really early and watch the sunrise and contemplate the majesty of the rays starting to come up over the horizon and light up the earth and turn darkness into day.

Today let us together worship our GOD.  Let us cry out to HIM in unison "Majesty, we adore YOU".  

Let the Heavens resound with our rejoicing in the love of GOD our Heavenly FATHER.  

Prayer: MAJESTY, GOD, ABBA FATHER, we cry out to YOU today and worship YOU.  We bow down to YOUR glory and we give thanks to YOU for your Grace and the salvation YOU have granted us through the death and resurrection of YOUR Son Jesus Christ.  We adore you FATHER and we worship YOU.

We pray all of this in the Holy Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Fear Not!

Fear Not!  This is a very vast statement to make to all of mankind.  Yet our GOD, our awesome, amazing GOD says that we should not be afraid.  

Why should we not be afraid when the world can be a really scary place?  Well our GOD can do anything.  IF We just trust that GOD is always with us. 

Our GOD can overcome anything.  And HE will if we trust that HE will.  

Prayer:  Heavenly FATHER GOD.  Today I place all my trust and my hope in YOU.  I know FATHER that you are capable of anything and that with YOU by my side, I never have to be afraid.  Therefore, FATHER I ask that YOU are with me through these dark days.  I humbly ask this in the Holy name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Wisdom!

GOD is Almighty, all powerful, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent.  

When we start to comprehend the magnitude of our GOD that is the beginning of wisdom. 

Wisdom is not being smarter than anyone else; it is not knowing more than anyone else, true Christian wisdom is the understanding that we are weak and our GOD is strong.  It is knowing that we need to depend fully on GOD for everything.

Today let us start on our journey to true wisdom.  Let us draw close to our GOD and learn HIS word and pray to HIM for real wisdom.

Prayer:  O Heavenly FATHER, I humbly ask that YOU give me wisdom.  Give me the knowledge to accept that without YOU FATHER, I am nothing.   Lord I pray that I never think that I am wiser than another, and I never boast about wisdom.  But rather FATHER I ask that YOU show me how to be truly wise. 

I ask all this in the Holy name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Make disciples!

Jesus commanded His disciples to go forth and make disciples of men, baptizing them in the name of the FATHER and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

What does that mean for you and I?

Well quite simply it means that each one of us who knows that Jesus Christ is our Lord and our Saviour, is charged with a duty to tell others the good news and to spread the news about the way to eternal life with GOD our FATHER in Heaven.

Not all of us are missionaries and not all of us are gifted with the will to go out and become full time Christian ministers or pastors or teachers. 

However, in our own small way we can spread the news.  The internet is a wonderful tool if we are shy or not particularly eloquent.  We can post the good news online.

Or we can give people something to think about when we close our conversations by simply saying things like "GOD bless you and keep you".  It is still spreading the good news that GOD loves each and every one of us.  We can join Church groups or find Christian prayer groups and this helps us to spread the good news.

The more we do it, the more we will want to do and the more opportunities GOD will give us to do so.  

Prayer:  Heavenly FATHER GOD, please help me to make more disciples on this earth.  Give me opportunities to tell people about YOUR enormous grace and the sacrifice that YOU made when YOU sent YOUR Son to die for my sins.  Please FATHER show me how I can teach others about YOUR salvation.  I pray this in the name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

The 10 Commandments!

    1.  And God spoke all these words:

       2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the            land of slavery.

3 “You shall have no other gods before me.

4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7 “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

13 “You shall not murder.

14 “You shall not commit adultery.

15 “You shall not steal.

16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

GOD gave us the ten commandments, not so that we can have miserable lives, but in order for us to have good lives. GOD wants the very best for all of us and the rules HE gave us will protect us all.

Often as Christians we need to go back to these rules for our lives and dwell on each and every one. Think about them and them put them into practise.

GOD must be at the very top of our lives. HE is our ALPHA and our OMEGA. 

We should not have ANY other GODS in our lives, be that money, houses, cars, possessions or anything else that occupies our time more than GOD.

Then we should NEVER misuse the name of OUR GOD. Not for any reason or excuse other than to worship and praise HIM.

We need to keep the Sabbath day HOLY. It is a day dedicated to the worship of GOD and it must be a day of rest. GOD gave us this day to recharge our batteries in order to live full lives in the week.

We need to honour our parents. Too many children today are brought up and not taught this and it leads to the breakdown of family values and indeed the break up of the family unit itself.

Obviously we should not murder. We should not commit adultery. We should not steal. We should not give false testimony and then lastly we should not be envious.

If we obey these rules, not only are our lives happier and healthier but can you imagine a world where each and every person lived according to these commandments. What a wonderful place this world would be!

Prayer: Heavenly FATHER GOD, I thank YOU for the rules you gave to my forefather Moses on Mount Sinai. I thank YOU FATHER that I have these rules to live by. Help me FATHER to obey each and every one of YOUR commandments and not to put any of them in a lesser priority in my life. I pray this in the Name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

God can do anything!

Our GOD is a wondrous GOD!  HE can do anything.  In fact, HE did everything.  He created us and the heavens and the earth that we live on.  And the most precious thing GOD did was that HE gave us our time here on earth.  

When we are rushing about our daily chores or attending meetings or looking after families or  generally being busy, we need to remember that GOD wants us to know that with HIM and through HIM anything and everything is possible.

Let us draw close to our HEAVENLY FATHER today and read HIS word.  Let us pray to HIM and tell HIM how much we appreciate our lives and our time here on earth.  Let us grow in our relationship with HIM daily.

Prayer: HEAVENLY FATHER, I thank YOU for my time here on this earth.  I thank YOU  that I can have a relationship with YOU.  I thank YOU that throughout today YOU were with me in all that I did.  I thank YOU for the miracle of this day past.  I pray all of this in the Holy name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

We are saved!

The good news is that we are all saved!  No matter what sins we have committed, no matter how dreadful they are, we are saved..... if we truly repent to God, if we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, and if we forgive all those who have sinned against us.

This is the promise by GOD to each and every one of us.  

What a gracious GOD we serve! Not only did HE send HIS only begotten Son to live on earth, to die on a cross, to rise again, but HE did all of this so that all our sins can be forgiven.  Jesus became the lamb of GOD.  He carries all our sins.

Today let us go down on our knees and ask for forgiveness of our sins.  Let us tell GOD that we accept HIS Son Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.  Then our sins are forgiven, never to be counted against us again.

Heavenly FATHER GOD, I thank YOU for YOUR grace and mercy.  I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour.  I pray that YOU will forgive my sins as I forgive those who have sinned against me.  I pray all of this in the powerful name of my Lord and Saviour, my Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Look forward!

As children of the Living GOD, we are told to not worry about tomorrow.  And we should not dwell on the past.

When we pray to GOD for forgiveness of our sins and we are truly repentant, GOD moves our sins from HIS mind as far as East is from West.  Therefore if we dwell on the mistakes we have made in the past, we are being dismissive of the promise of forgiveness of our living GOD.

In Jeremiah, GOD tells us that HE has a plan for our lives.  Plans to prosper us and not to harm us.  Plans to give us hope and future.

Therefore today, let us resolve to not LOOK back, nor to worry about our future, but to trust our fate to our AMAZING CREATOR GOD!

Prayer: Heavenly FATHER GOD, I place all my trust in YOU. I trust my future and my past to YOU O LORD GOD.   I humbly ask that YOU forgive my sins as I forgive those who sin against me.  I place my future plans in YOUR hands as YOUR plans are perfect.

I pray all this in the name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Son of Man!

Have you ever wondered about what we would do if GOD suddenly appeared on earth and spoke to us in person?  One thing is for sure, we could not stand up and confront GOD.  HIS amazing power would push us down.  

GOD spoke the universe and the heavens and the earth into existence.  It is no wonder then that Ezekial fell face down when GOD came to him and spoke to him.  Only when commanded by GOD and the Spirit of GOD came upon him could he stand. 

Are we ready to face GOD should HE come to earth and call us?  This is a call to all reading this blog.  

Let us prepare today to face our GOD by getting into a deep and meaningful relationship with HIM.  Let us read HIS word daily.  Let us pray to GOD not just daily but hourly and about everything.  Let us have the Holy Spirit come and live in each one of us and let it fill us and consume us and let us abide in GOD and let GOD abide in us.

Prayer: Heavenly FATHER GOD, I pray today that I may have a deep and truly meaningful relationship with YOU.  I pray that YOU will hear my prayers and I pray that I may hear YOU speaking to me.  I pray that YOU send the Holy Spirit to live in me.  I ask humbly that YOU forgive my sins as I forgive those who sin against me.  I pray all of this in the Holy name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Loving God!

In this verse, John tells us that if we do not know how to love, then we do not know GOD because GOD is love!  This is such a powerful statement.  And it is proved beyond a reasonable doubt.

Can any of us even begin to imagine the pain of seeing our own child hanging on a cross waiting to die.  It must have been absolutely unbearable.  And this to save us from our sins!

Whenever we doubt that GOD loves us unconditionally, we need to go back to the story of Jesus dying on the Cross for us.  

Prayer: Heavenly FATHER, I thank YOU for the love that YOU have given to me.  I thank YOU for YOUR grace and salvation.  I pray all of this in the glorious name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Thy comforts delight my soul!

When we contemplate GOD, our souls are comforted.  GOD is so powerful, so wonderful, so gracious, so omnipresent, so omniscient, so omnipotent. Our GOD is HUGE.  HE can do anything and HE is our FATHER in Heaven.

Therefore our souls should be greatly comforted when we think about and dwell on our FATHER GOD.

Prayer:  Heavenly FATHER, when I consider YOU and I think about YOUR ways and YOUR mighty works, I am in awe FATHER.  How truly magnificent YOU are.  I give thanks that YOU are my FATHER. How truly blessed I am to be able to call myself a child of GOD.

I thank YOU FATHER in the Holy name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Be thankful!

In Colossians we are told to let the peace of Jesus Christ rule in our hearts.  This is often extremely difficult to do.  Especially with all the pressures of modern day living. 

However, we can find comfort and solace when we pray to GOD and when we read the Bible and when we spend a quiet time talking to OUR FATHER in Heaven.

Today let us do just that.  Take a little time to spend with GOD and remember to thank HIM for all that we have and all that we are and the families that HE has given us.

Prayer: Heavenly FATHER, I thank YOU that YOU gave me the life of YOUR Son Jesus Christ.  I thank YOU that YOU are always there for me; that YOU always listen to me and that I can always talk to YOU.  I pray all of this in the Holy name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

GOD is our GOD even until the end!

GOD is the Alpha and the Omega. HE is the beginning and the end.  Without GOD we are nothing.  Through HIM we are HIS children.

Today let us contemplate the awesome power that GOD has and that GOD is.  GOD can do anything for us and although we sometimes think that we are in charge of our own destiny, we can look up at the Heavens and feel really really small.

To know GOD created not only us but the entire universe.  That HE spoke it into existence is truly mind boggling.  Let us draw close to this magnificent GOD of ours today.  Let us pray to HIM and read HIS word and listen for HIS voice.

Prayer: Heavenly FATHER, I thank YOU for YOUR enormous grace in granting me the chance to share my life with YOU.  I thank YOU for sending YOUR Son Jesus down to this earth to live His life and to die on a cross so that I can be saved.  I thank YOU in the Holy name of Your Son, my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.   Amen.

Spread the Good news!

GOD sent His Son Jesus Christ.  Jesus came to earth to offer us salvation.  A way out of our death from the sin which we are born into.  Jesus preached to people throughout the land went from place to place spreading the Word.

Jesus appointed His disciples who went out after His death and resurrection and spread the good news that we can have eternal life with GOD if we believe in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. 

So it is still today.  We need to spread the news.  We can do this  by talking to people.  If we are not gifted with speaking then we can do it by writing about God and we can do it by showing the world how good Christians conduct themselves; by being examples to others.  

In order to know what we are called on to do and how we are to spread the Word, we need to have a relationship with GOD.  

Let us pray to GOD, talk to GOD and read HIS word.  Let the Holy Spirit come and live in each one of us and let HIM show us how we can be good disciples.

Prayer: Heavenly FATHER, I pray in Jesus' name that YOU will show me how to spread the good news.  I humbly ask that YOU make me a disciple of Jesus so that I can tell others about YOUR enormous grace and the salvation that YOU have given us through YOUR grace.  I pray this in the name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Jesus was and is The Word!

In the beginning, when GOD created the heavens and the earth, John tells us that the Word was with GOD.  In this instance John is telling us that Jesus was with GOD right at the outset of creation.  This confirms the Holy Trinity.  GOD the FATHER, GOD the SON and GOD the HOLY SPIRIT!

We therefore cannot worship GOD if we do not believe in Jesus as HIS Son and if we do not accept the Holy Spirit as the three are ONE!

This is a profound mystery.  However it is confirmed throughout the Scriptures.  In order for us to be true Christians, we need to accept that GOD and Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one and the same thing.  When we accept that GOD is our FATHER in Heaven, we know that HE sent HIS Son Jesus to come and live on this earth and when Jesus rose from the dead and went up into Heaven, GOD poured our the Holy Spirit on the earth and we can all have the Holy Spirit come and live in us.

To have the Holy Spirit we need to have a deep and meaningful relationship with GOD.  We need to confess that Jesus is our Saviour and our Redeemer and then we are filled with the Holy Spirit.  

If we have not had the Holy Spirit fill us let us make a decision today to pray to GOD, to ask HIM to forgive our sins.  Let us forgive those who have sinned against us.  Let us tell GOD that we accept HIS Son Jesus Christ as our Saviour and let us ask GOD to fill us with the Holy Spirit. 

Prayer: Heavenly FATHER GOD, today I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and my Redeemer.  I humbly ask that YOU forgive my sins as I forgive those who have sinned against me.  FATHER I humbly ask that YOU send the Holy Spirit to live and work in my life.  I pray all of this in the Name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Trust in God!

GOD can do anything!  GOD is all powerful, ALMIGHTY, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent.  HE is our creator.  HE created the entire universe.  HE speaks life into our nostrils.

Today we pray that GOD will work miracles in our lives.  Let us pray with fervour and earnestly to GOD our FATHER in Heaven and ask HIM for the impossible for us to achieve, but which HE does and can do just by speaking.

Prayer: Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent GOD, hear our prayers today.  Today we pray for miracles in our lives.  We humbly ask YOU O ABBA FATHER to come and work a miracle for us.  We pray this prayer in the Holy Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Share with others!

GOD wants us to do good unto each other.  HE also wants us to share what we have.  In order to be children of the Living GOD, we need to emulate Jesus on earth.

We need to be prepared to lay down our lives for each other.  GOD's first commandment is that we love the LORD our GOD with all our hearts and with all our minds and with all our strength and we shall have no other Gods before the LORD our GOD!  So in order to show our love for GOD and to show HIM that we put HIM first, HE wants us to do good to one another.

Let us go out today and do good for someone.  Let us pray with someone and let us give something away, even if it is just a blessing.  

Heavenly FATHER, I thank YOU that YOU are my GOD.  I thank YOU that YOU are my FATHER in Heaven.  I thank YOU for the life of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour.  I ask FATHER that YOU show me where I can do good to others.

I humbly ask this in the name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Give thanks to God!

Paul tells us not to be anxious about anything.  He tells us to take our requests, our worries our concerns to God.  Also he reminds us to be thankful when we petition God.  This is so important.  

Often when we are asking God to do something for us, we forget to thank God for all that we have already and all that He has done for us.

So when we go to God, let us remember to thank Him.  Thank Him for His enormous grace in just listening to us.  Thank Him for who we are, for what we are, for what we have and for the people He put in our lives.  

Paul goes on to say that the peace which transcends all understanding will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. 

Prayer: Heavenly Father God, I thank You that You created me and that You put me where You put me.  I thank You for the people in my life.  I thank You for all that I am and all that I have.  Father I humbly ask that You hear my prayers and my petitions today.  I ask this in the Holy name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Love the LORD your God!

Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind.

Our God is a jealous God and He wants us to serve only Him.  If we serve other Gods, we are working our way out of an eternal life with God.  Other Gods can include money, food, friends, lifestyles to name just a few.  

We have to put God above everything in our lives.  Above our spouses, our children, our money, jobs and all that we do.  

In order to always put God first, we need to have a deep relationship with Him.  We need to discuss everything with Him first.   We need to know His word.  We need to ask God to come and live with us and in us through the Holy Spirit.  We also need to know that Jesus was the Son of God.  

Let us not be deceived!

If anyone claims that we worship the same God but their God does not include the worship of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, then we are being deceived.  

Our God sent His Son Jesus Christ to live on earth, to die on the cross for our sins and to rise again on the third day.  Our God is the Holy Trinity.  God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  

Today let us ask God to come and live in us and let us serve Him only and put Him first and last in our lives.

God must be our Alpha and our Omega!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are my Alpha and my Omega.  I have no beginning and I have no end without You.  Please Father, send Your Holy Spirit to live in me and to guide me.  To help me to make wise choices and to be my guide to and eternal life with You.  I pray all of this in the Holy name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Christ is risen!

God always fulfils his promises to us.   He promised to send His only Son, Jesus Christ to save us from our sins. Jesus became the Lamb of God.  Sent to take all our sins on Him by dying for us on a cross.

If Jesus had only been crucified and had died, the promise would not have been completed.  For our salvation, Jesus had to rise from the dead.  This He did on the third day following His crucifiction.   

We, as Christians celebrate the resurrection as the ultimate gift from God.  We are promised that if we believe that Jesus Christ was crucified, died and rose again, that He sits at the right hand of God our Father.  

We have eternal life when we believe in this profound grace granted to us by our Father in Heaven to save us from our sinful ways.  

To accept this salvation we need to forgive those who sin against us and we need to repent of our sins.  Today I invite all reading this blog, let us pray together and ask God to forgive us and take the salvation offered to us.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your grace and mercy.  I thank You that You sent Jesus Christ, Your Son and my Saviour, to die for my sins and to rise so that I may have eternal life with You.  I pray Father that you forgive my sins as I forgive all those who have sinned against me.  I pray this in the name of my Redeemer, my Lord and my Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen.
