In the verse above, James, the half brother of Jesus, tell us that if we lack wisdom we should ask GOD.
He goes on to say that GOD gives generously to all. This verse is not to be taken out of context. It means that GOD will give generously to all who ask for wisdom.
In the Old Testament, we have a good example of people who prayed for wisdom. King Solomon, the son of King David, only asked GOD for wisdom. He could have asked for anything. Instead he chose to ask GOD for wisdom.
It is recorded that King Solomon's wisdom was renowned throughout the known world then.
The Queen of Sheba travelled a long long way to visit King Solomon to hear first hand from him his wisdom.
In our lives, what we often lack is wisdom. Wisdom gives us discernment. Wisdom gives us insight. But most of all, wisdom helps us to understand the character of our FATHER in Heaven.
When we read our Bibles daily, we need to pray before we start and to ask GOD to give us the wisdom, not only to reveal HIS word to us, but to give us discernment to be able to use the word to minister to others and to be able to evangelise in a more knowledgeable way.
Prayer: ABBA FATHER, today, I humbly ask that YOU grant me wisdom. Wisdom to discern YOUR will for my life and wisdom to know YOUR word better. I humbly pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Stay wisely GOD blessed today!
