We are called on to obey GOD. That is why we are separated from GOD. Because we are sinners and sinners cannot be in the presence of a pure and righteous FATHER.
All through the Bible, we can trace sin. Adam and Eve sinned and were banished from the Garden of Eden. Moses sinned and killed the Egyptian. Lot's wife sinned and looked back. Aaron's sons sinned and were killed.
So it perpetuates. Until Jesus. Jesus was not born of a sinful union. Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit to a virgin mother. Jesus never sinned. Jesus was therefore the perfect sacrifice to take on our sins and to be punished for them.
Once we accept Jesus as our Redeemer. When we confess that we are sinners. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we are convicted to sin no more.
Does this mean that we will not sin? Definitely not! We are human and we sin. We sin in our words, our actions, our thoughts, things we do and things we do not do.
We remain sinners until we die. But as children of GOD, we cannot carry on doing the same sins over and over. The Holy Spirit convicts us as come to know the character of GOD.
But it is useless to believe in Jesus, to admit being a sinner and to be filled with the Holy Spirit and then drift away from GOD by not reading HIS word, by not praying and by not continually fellowshipping with like minded Christians. We need each other and we feed each other spiritually.
If you are reading this tonight and you are a Christian, make Bible reading a daily habit. Make prayer a habit. Most of all, make fellowship with other Christians a daily habit.
Prayer: ABBA FATHER, today I pray that YOU fill me anew with YOUR Holy Spirit. I pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
