God is the beginning and He is the end

God grants us rest

Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Jesus loves us which is why He was willing to die to save us from our sins.  God sent His son to this earth in the knowledge that He would be persecuted  and that He needed to die on the cross and be raised from the dead in order to save each and every one of us.

God says to all of us, "You who are weary and burdened come to me and I will give you rest."  We can approach our God each and every day and talk to Him and He will give us our rest.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank you that I can come to you each and every day and You will give me rest.  Father I pray today that You will grant me Your peace. I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Our God is Perfect

1John 4:18." There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

God is perfect.  His love for us is perfect and His plan for our lives is perfect.  All we need to do is follow God’s instruction for our lives.  We need to listen for His word today.

When we read the word of God and when we pray our relationship with Him strengthens and we are strengthened through that.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your perfect love and I thank You that You have a perfect plan for my life.  Help me to listen to You. I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Trust in God

Matthew 19:26 “Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

If we have faith as small as a mustard seed, we can tell the mountain to move and it would do it.  So Jesus tells us! 

We develop our faith in God and strengthen it by learning to trust in God.

When we try to do things on our own, they are seldom successful.  But when we pray to God, all things become possible, if we will only believe that with God all things are possible. 

We need to learn to depend on God for everything and to take everything to God in prayer, knowing and believing that He is always there for each one of us. 

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, I pray today that I learn to trust in You and that You know what is best for me.   I ask today that you show me how to be totally dependent on You.  I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.

God's perfect peace

Do not worry

Matthew 6:25-26 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” 26.  “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

Jesus preached this message to his disciples and to the multitudes listening to Him.  God does not want us to be unhappy.  He wants us to learn to be content whatever our circumstances.

Jesus went on to tell the crowds that as lowly as we are, we know how to give good gifts to our children, so how much more our Father in Heaven will give us to each one of us. 

What we need to do is learn to trust that God knows what is best for us and that He gives to each one of us the more we trust in Him and the more we lean on Him.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, I pray today that I learn to trust in You and that You know what is best for me.   I ask today that you show me how to be content, knowing that You are in charge of my life and that without You, I am nothing.  I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.

God is everywhere

Jeremiah 23:23-24 "Am I a God who is near," declares the LORD, "And not a God far off? Can a man hide himself in hiding places So I do not see him?" declares the LORD "Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?" declares the LORD.”

God is everywhere and sometimes He uses us to carry out His perfect plan.  We need to be ready to listen to God all the time and to know that we cannot run and we cannot hide from our Lord.

As God made the heavens and the earth, so too He made us to fulfill His perfect plan.  We need to read God’s word each and every day and give Him time to talk to us every day. We do this through reading our Bible and through our prayers, which God always listens to.

Prayer:  Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent God, You are truly amazing.  I thank you that You have a perfect plan for me.  I ask You Father God to use me in any way that You want.  I ask Father that You show me how to listen for Your word. Amen.

Trust in God

God's plan is perfect

John 7:17 “If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself.”

God has a purpose for our lives and He has a plan.  We need to fit into God’s plan and stop trying to fit God into our plan.

When we pray about everything and when we stop trying to get away from what God wants for our lives, then all things become clear and we suddenly see the perfect way of our most perfect God.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, I thank you that you have a plan for my life and I ask that you use me in any way that you can.  I pray that I may bring glory to your perfect Name. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.

God is Huge!

God grants us wisdom

James 15: 3 “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”

We can all ask God for wisdom.  The Bible tells us that wisdom is the beginning of the fear of God.  Through becoming wiser, we can understand the magnitude of our God and the magnitude of what He created.

When we read our Bible and see all that God has done for us throughout the ages, we start to grasp how magnificent our God truly is.  

The best news of this is that this enormous powerful God loves us.  Yes all of us!

Prayer:  Our Father in Heaven, today, I thank you that You love me so very much.  God, please be with me in everything I think, say and do. I thank you Father that you call me Your child.  I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.

God love us

1 Corinthians 8:3 “but if anyone loves God, he is known by Him.”

The Bible tells us that if any one of us loves God, we are known to God.  There are more stories about how God loves and formed us in our mother’s womb.  He counts the hairs on our heads.

Therefore, we need to love the Lord our God with all of our hearts and with all of our souls and with all of our minds.  We need to put God first and we need to put God last.  He needs to be our waking thoughts and the last thought should be of Him before we go to sleep.

Thank God today that He loves us so much.

Obedience to God

2 Corinthians 10:5 “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ;”

The Bible shows us how, when we disobey God our lives fall apart.  This starts with Adam and Eve and the story of how they lost access to the Garden of Eden.

God wants a good relationship with us.  

However it is very clear that God is our Father and we are his children.  Just as children must be obedient to their parents, so we are to be obedient in everything we do.  We need to obey God first and His appointed leaders of this earth second.  Where the leaders will is different from that of God, we revert to the first rule and we follow God. 

God gives us His word to read and we should start by being obedient and by reading His word.  We need to talk to God daily in prayer and supplication so that He can show us His perfect way.

Prayer:  O Ancient of Days, My Father in Heaven, today show me how to be obedient to you in everything I think say and do.  Grant me the knowledge of Your perfect plan for my life.  Give me a heart and soul and mind to do Your will here on earth.  I pray this in Jesus Name. Amen

The Holy Spirit can pour out on you and water your soul

James 5:18 “Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.”

When we pray to God, He listens to us.  The earth over Johannesburg has been so parched.  Last night the rains came down and watered it liberally.

We need to always pray about everything.  We must remember to pray for the earth and for there to be rain so that the fruit is produced. 

Our souls also need to “watering of the Holy Spirit” to produce the good fruit that is within each one of us. We just need to know and to believe that God is there and He is listening to us.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father thank you for listening to my prayers.  Today Father I pray that you will send your Holy Spirit to water my soul so that I may produce good fruit. I ask that you bless me in all that I do today. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.

God Love us all

Proverbs 8:17 “I love those who love me; whoever looks for me can find me.”

We need to know that God loves each and every one of us, regardless of who we are of what we do.  He wants all of us to have a life everlasting with Him and in Heaven.

We need to constantly seek out companionship with God.  We can do that by reading our bibles, by praying and just by sharing His word with others.

Our God is always with us and we need to know this as a fact.  When we call on Him He is there and He is listening to us.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father I thank you that I can just call on Your name and I know that You hear everything I say.  Help me today to share this powerful knowledge with all who come into my life.  I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.

In the beginning

John 1;1  "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

How amazing is our God.  He was there in the beginning.  He and Jesus together with the Holy Spirit.  

This is truly supernatural.  

Our God wanted us and He made us, in His image.  He loves us so much that when He spoke, He created all the Heavens and the earth.  He put each and every star and planet in its place and He calls them forth by name.

He can count the hairs on our head and He knows our going out and our coming in.  Truly blessed we are to be children of this magnificent being we call Our Father in Heaven.

Prayer: Father today, I am so blessed to be able to you MY FATHER IN HEAVEN.  I thank you Father that You loved me so much that You created me in Your image.  I praise Your Holy Name and say I love You ABBA FATHER.  Amen

Give thanks to God

Ephesians 5:20 “always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Watching God Art at work in the morning as the sun rises and the sky turns blue and pink is an amazing way to start the day.  The little birds come out and begin to sing and weave their nests.  The day slowly unfolds to the sound of the angels singing in heaven.

What a wonderful world we live in!  We should always praise God and thank Him for the beauty that He has given us if we will but open our eyes and look for it. 

Our God is truly omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent! And we are so privileged to be His creation, His children.

Prayer:   Awesome Wonderful God, my Father in Heaven, today I thank you for all that You have given me.  I thank You for life, for love and for Your enormous presence in my life and on this wonderful earth.  I love you Father.  I love Jesus and I love the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

How Big is Your God

God is always with us.

Psalm 145:8 “The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.”

Our God is gracious and truly compassionate.  Often when we see the trials and tribulations of everyday life, we find ourselves questioning “Where was God in this?”  We need to know that God is always with us.  God wants the very best for all of us and He does not want to see any one of us suffer.

God, in His infinite wisdom, gave us all free will.  We can do anything we want and therein lies the problem. Everyone has free will and sometimes they use theirs in a bad way or sometimes we make bad decisions. 

When we have to deal with problems, we need to remember that the Holy Spirit lives within each one of us when we ask God to fill us with it.  Jesus is always near and He loves each one of us and He holds us in the palm of His hand. 

We are not alone! We have God through it all.

Prayer:   Heavenly Father today I thank you that You are with me in everything I think say and do.  I thank you for Your Holy Spirit that fills me up and I thank you for Jesus being with me.  I ask today Father that you remain with me in everything I do. I ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

God Art

Trust in God fully

Psalm 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

God will provide for us if we ask.  The Bible contains many passages which talk about this. Our faith needs to be strong as we come to rely on God for all our needs.  We need to let go of our own dependence and learn to lean on God.

Jesus said that if we had faith as small as a mustard seed we could move mountains.  God can move the earth if He desires.  He can move the universe.  How much more can He do for us if we truly have faith that He is our provider.

Prayer:   Ancient of Days, my Creator and my Father God.  Today let my faith be strong enough to know that You can and You will proved for me if I am just faithfully enough to believe that You will.  I ask this in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Wonderful God

Psalm 93:3 “For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.”

Our God is an awesome God.  We are so privileged to be able to call Him Our Father.  As the summer heat comes along and the birds are making their nests, the buds on the trees are unfurling and the rains are expected, it is a good time to reflect on the wonder of this marvelous creation that we call our earth.

God is everywhere and He is watching over our going out and our coming in.  He is in charge of everything down to the smallest detail.  Every single day we need to pray and thank God for this world and for our lives.

Prayer:   Heavenly Father, today I thank you that you are indeed my Creator.  I thank you for this life that you have given me to live Father and I thank you for the beauty of this world.  I thank you that sent your only son Jesus to live on this world and to die and to rise up into Heaven, so that I might have eternal life with you.  I thank you Holy Father. Amen

Not all who call on the name of the Lord will enter the Kingdom of Heaven

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

As Christians, we are called to do the will of God.  In order to do the will of God we need to know who God is and we need to listen for His voice.  We do this by reading the Bible and praying in earnest to God.

Let us today make time to read the scriptures.  Let us make a concerted effort to subscribe to a daily devotional and then let us pray often.  Take everything to God in prayer and then listen and watch as God shows us which way He wants us to take.

 

Prayer:   Heavenly Father, today I pray that You show me how to live a righteous life.  Show me Your word and help me to hear Your voice. Forgive my sins as I forgive those who sin against me and give me my daily bread.  I ask this humbly in the name of my Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus. Amen.

Listen to the word of God

Psalm 33:4 “For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.”

In all that we do every day, we need to know that the word of the Lord is right and it is true. For that reason it is necessary to read our bibles every day so that we know the word of God.  It is also necessary for us to listen to the word of God and to be obedient to it.

As we go about our daily business today, let us ask God to guide us and show us His perfect way.  Let us be obedient to His word.   

Prayer:   Heavenly Father, today I pray that You show me how to live a righteous life.  Show me Your word and help me to hear Your voice.  I ask this humbly in the name of my Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus . Amen

Crucified with Christ

Galatians 2: 20 "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Jesus loved us so much that he died on a cross for each and every one of us. We need to love Him too and the way that we can do that is to be like him.  In our dealings with the world, we really need to ask ourselves “What would Jesus do?”

This way of thinking leads to us loving our neighbours as ourselves, but it also shows Jesus and our Father in heaven that we love them too. It also helps us to be kind and loving.

God loves us and wants us to be with Him and He wants Jesus to be alive in each one of us.

Today let us be children of the Living God.

Prayer:   Heavenly Father, I thank you for the wonderful gift of grace that you gave me in the life of Your loving Son Jesus.  Today Yahweh, let me be more like Jesus.  Let me show people that I truly am a child of God.  I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Jesus the Bread of Life

John 6: 35 "Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

Jesus is our Saviour.  When we believe that He is the Son of God, our creator and we understand that without Him we will surely die, then we begin to understand that indeed without Him we will “starve” to death.

When we live our lives in the fullness of the knowledge of Jesus it becomes a life worth living. We are then assured that one day when we die to this earth, we too will be born into Heaven and be reunited with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

So let us today make sure that we “eat” of the bread of life and know that we are saved.

Prayer:   Gracious Father in Heaven, thank you that gave us Your Son Jesus Christ so that we might live and have eternal life.  Thank you that You are a gracious, loving and forgiving God.  Father today be with us and give us your peace.  We pray this in the name of our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus.

Let us remain in God

John 14: 6"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Sometimes even though we are in a new season, everything in our lives suddenly changes.  We lose someone we love very dear to us, or we lose our way in Christ and our lives are different to the way they were.

It is always comforting to know that we are not alone.  Jesus is with us in everything we do.  God listens to our prayers even when we think He does not.  

In the uncertain times, we need to draw near to the one constant, the one thing that never changes, the Love of our Father in Heaven for us.  He loved us so much that He sent His only begotten Son to live on earth, to die, to be raised from the dead and to ascend into Heaven so that we might have eternal life with Him.

Prayer:   Heavenly Father, I thank you today that you are constantly there for me.  I thank you that all I need to do is to pray to You and You are there listening to me.  I thank you Father, that You have given me Your abounding Grace.  I thank you Father in the name of my redeemer, Jesus Christ.

A season of hope

Song of Solomon 2:11 “For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.”

As we feel the warmth of the first days of spring and we see the buds opening, we know that soon the rains will come.  All the seasons are God’s wonderful creation.  Without the cold of winter, the wheat will not harden and without spring rains the crops will not survive.  Without the summer heat, we cannot hope to reap. 

We need to tell people the good news about our Creator, God.  We need to know that God created all of this so that we could thrive on this earth so perfectly created by Him. 

We need to care take the earth and all its inhabitants. That is our purpose on earth.  To give glory to God and to spread the word that God is great and His grace is amazing.  God sent his only Son to die for us to save us so that we could spend eternity with Him.  

Prayer:   O Ancient of days, our Father in Heaven.  We thank you Father that you have created such a perfect world for us to live in.  We thank you for the seasons and we thank you for our lives.  We pray today Father that through our words and our actions, we are able to spread the news that Your Grace is immense and that everyone who calls on the name of Jesus and believes that He is Your son will be saved.  We pray this in Jesus Name. Amen.

A new season of hope in God.

Matthew 24:32 “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near.”

We are made in the image of God and therefore as God made the seasons, so he made us in His image to enjoy them. Spring is a time of hope, a time of new beginnings and a time to bear fruit.

Let us today start a new walk with our Creator. Let us determine to read His word every day and let us bear the fruits of the spirit who lives within each one of us.

Go out with joy today and spread the good news that God loves us. He wants all of us to be with Him in our eternal lives and because of that wonderful grace, we need to share our blessings with others.

Prayer: Wonderful Almighty God. As I look upon the new buds of spring today, please give me opportunities to share Your word with others. Please show me how to be a blessing in Your Name. Thank you Father that you made the seasons and thank you that You made me. Amen
