This is such a profound Proverb. The LORD our GOD wants us to ask HIM for wisdom. Which, we are told, if we do, is given to us.
King Solomon, to whom most of the Proverbs are attributed, asked GOD for but one thing. Wisdom. And because that was all he asked for, GOD gave him not only wisdom, but wealth beyond measure.
I am not advocating asking GOD for wisdom in order to achieve wealth. That is not what I mean. But certainly, when we ask for wisdom, GOD responds in an extremely positive way.
When we have wisdom, we can more easily discern right from wrong. We can more easily see the right paths to take in our lives. We can judge people so much better. And again here, I am not talking about judging in a negative light. But rather choosing to be with people who are more like-minded to ourselves is easier when we have wisdom.
So, the wisdom also brings about a righteous fear of GOD. We suddenly understand the magnitude and magnificence of our FATHER in Heaven. We also understand that this life is fleeting and we need to make better choices in order to rather store up our treasures in Heaven where moths and thieves will not make off with them.
Today, let us ask GOD for wisdom.
Prayer: ABBA FATHER, I thank YOU for YOUR grace and favour. Today, FATHER I humbly ask that YOU give me wisdom. I ask this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
