Dearest Christ followers, we are not to seek rewards for our good works on earth. However, we are called upon to shine the light of JESUS on this earth as a testimony to HIM.
This is a fine line to walk. And it sounds contradictory. But, in actual fact, what this verse is talking about, is living the Christian life.
In other words, being a faithful follower of JESUS, we can no longer walk in our old ways.
We can no longer behave in a manner which brings being a Christ follower into disrepute.
The way we live needs to reflect the changes in our lives. Day by day we need to become more and more like JESUS. We need to live honest, upright, community driven lives.
We need to show the joy of being a Christ follower. We need to show kindness, love, patience, humility and generosity towards people around us.
In this manner we can shine the LIGHT of JESUS on this earth!
Prayer: ABBA FATHER, I humbly pray that YOU show me how to become more and more like JESUS in everything I think, say and do so that I may shine YOUR light upon this earth. I humbly pray this in the HOLY name of JESUS CHRIST, Amen.
